Young Voices 2017

On Monday 6th February Botwell School Choir joined over 7,500 other children from schools all over the south east of England to perform a variety of songs and medleys at the O2 in London. Coming so soon after Christmas there was a huge amount to learn but the children rose to the challenge and were a credit to the school and their parents, who came along with us. It was very exciting to sing in such a famous arena and the choir performed with great energy and enthusiasm.

I’m sure they will remember the day for a long time to come.

Here are some of their thoughts:

‘It was a magic moment at the O2. We were dancing with Urban Strides and singing with famous singers. It was really special for me. ‘(Raymond)

‘It was the the best day of my life because it was like a big family of singers.’ (Joselyne)

‘Before the concert I was really ecstatic because it’s where famous people perform. We sang with our hearts.’ The O2 was filled with fun and positive energy.’(Erin)

‘I felt so special.’ (Roisin)

I really like the URBAN STRIDERS! (Chloe)

‘It was fun and enjoyable because all the lights were so colourful.’ (Lilly)

‘It was a magical night.’(Irene)

‘The experience was wonderful and all the lights fascinated me.’(Keira)

‘When I saw the inside of the O2Arena I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It was magic.’(Dami)

‘It was absolutely brilliant, the way we all came together as one choir.’(Tharun)

‘My favourite things about the O2 were BeatBox Collectors and Urban Striders.’ (Leona)

‘It felt magical because it is a world famous arena and we performed in it.’ (Trinity)

‘Hearing the Beatbox Collectors was epic! (Stefan)

‘It was just amazing!’ (Mia)

‘My special time at the O2 was when we heard the Beat Box Collectors and Urban Striders.’ (Valentina)

On Wednesday 7th December a group of children were invited to take part in the Advent Carol Service at Westminster Catherdal. Two children from year three to six went along to represent the school. It was a very special event and included beautiful singing from the cathedral choir, Christmas story readings and lots of carols for us to sing. A live donkey and sheep also took part in the procession. The day ended with our children giving an impromptu performance of a selection of our Christmas songs on a very packed tube train . The commuters were very appreciative with lots of thank yous . They were also complimented on behaviour and how smart they all were in their uniforms and Hi-viz jackets. Well done!!
