  • Year 6 Skipping Fundraiser

    Published 09/12/21

A huge well done to our Year 6 children who all took part in a six-hour continuous skipping marathon yesterday, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.  The children have enjoyed learning about the heart and circulatory system over this half-term, and it has been great to see them getting actively involved and supporting this important charity.

This initiative offered the opportunity for pupils of Year 5 & Year 6 to learn more about the creative media world.

The media team from Global Academy facilitated a workshop. This included opportunities for pupils to learn how to use and work mixing decks and recording their own radio show segment on a mini pop up radio station. After participating in these fantastic workshops the pupils were able to have an insight into the world of Creative Media career pathways.

The pupils all had a wonderful morning which was made even more enjoyable/memorable when they received mementoes.

  • Inset Day for Staff

    Published 15/10/21

Yesterday, Botwell House hosted training for our staff alongside three other deanery schools. The teachers focused on spirituality and Catholic education teaching, while the educational support staff developed pedagogy and practice, specific to their respective roles.

We ended our day with a Mass together in our church.  It has been a blessing to worship once again with our fellow Catholic schools as one and we are looking forward to sharing future training days together as a deanery.

  • 90th Birthday Celebrations

    Published 08/09/21

This week the children have been celebrating the school’s 90th anniversary, learning about how our school has changed over the years, having opened on the 8th September 1931.  The children have enjoyed a fun week learning about the history of our school. They have had the opportunity to visit the Parish Hall to examine a range of artefacts and photographs, including the original admission register from 1931, the ‘golden boot’ won by our football team at Old Trafford in 1998 and the foundation stone which was laid in December 1930!

We are fortunate in that some of our staff are themselves former pupils and throughout the week they have enjoyed sharing their school experiences with the children.

Finally, our week ended with our first Mass of the year, where we celebrated this birthday.  Excitingly, we were joined by one of the oldest living former pupils of the school, who joined in 1935.  How lovely it was to see both pupils and parents alike, sharing in this celebration together.
