We will focus on the genre of persuasive writing as well as poetry writing. Our key text focus will be based on The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd. We will explore the story by looking at the characters and narrative before producing our two extended pieces of writing. As readers we will focus on answering vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval and summarising questions based on the following texts: William Kamkwamba, Chromatography, The Clockwork Crow, The Highwayman and Titanium. Our grammar focus will be commas for parenthesis and meaning. |

We will use physical computing to explore the concept of selection in programming through the use of the Crumble programming environment. We will be introduced to a microcontroller (Crumble controller) and learn how to connect and program components (including output devices- LEDs and motors) through the application of their existing programming knowledge. We are introduced to conditions as a means of controlling the flow of actions and make use of their knowledge of repetition and conditions when introduced to the concept of selection (through the if, then structure). |
We will name and locate counties and cities of the United Kingdom, geographical regions and their identifying human and physical characteristics, key topographical features (including hills, mountains, coasts and rivers), and land-use patterns; and understand how some of these aspects have changed over time. We will identify key vocabulary such as country, county, city, town and village and look at the differences between them in relation to theme parks around the United Kingdom. We will also use our understanding of map features and compass points to identify places on a map using both physical maps and online maps. |

Our topic of Transformation will focus on how energy and love can be transformed for positive purposes. We will look at readings from the bible, with a focus on the Pentecost and the transformation the disciples went through after Jesus was resurrected. We will then focus on the religion of Islam as we explore world religions. We will look at their teachings and beliefs as well as their traditions. |

We will look at craft and design in our DT topic, with a focus on technical drawing to plan, design and evaluate a working ferris wheel using a range of materials. |
We will compare materials based on their properties of hardness, solubility, transparency, conductivity and response to magnets, dissolve materials and then recover a substance from the solution made, separate materials by filtering, sieving and evaporating, look at ways materials can be changed and whether these changes are reversible or not. |
Our topic of Created to Live in Community explores the individual’s relationship with the wider world. Here we explore how human beings are relational by nature and are called to love others in the wider community through service, through dialogue and through working for the Common Good. |

We will be learning about African drumming. |
As Sporting Heroes we will communicate, collaborate and compete with each other. In indoor PE we will work on team building games, whereas in outdoor PE we will work on small ball skills with a focus on invasion games which will lead to hockey. |
We will focus on the French language with a continuation of activities and giving an opinion about different activities. We will look at the celebration of the life of saint Joan of Arc who’s feast day is on May 30th |
